Busy, port-filled cruise. If you focus on all the destinations, this cruise is worth it. Don’t count of excellent food- you won’t find it. Get a good deal for the cruise and you’ll be pleased.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
If I could put zero stars I would. Apparently our ship was delayed due to fog but so were the other cruise lines leaving from Venice. The difference is that other cruise lines alerted their passengers, MSC did not. We would have stayed in Venice and avoided the cruise terminal for longer if we had known. At the cruise terminal it was complete and utter chaos.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Nothing special to report. Maybe out of the many meals, I can note that 3 of the meals were especially good. (That’s including dessert) the meals we had at port were much better. Good news is that we didn’t gain any weight while cruising.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
There was never really anything going on. We went to bingo once but paid for the tickets. We were quite busy with the port stops but there didn’t seem to be much of a focus on activities.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Lots of talent within the entertainment group but the shows were incredibly random. The shows each night had a title and theme but they hardly stuck to it. Basically every night was a variety show with the same talents each night. They could use some greater direction because the individuals are actually very talented.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our waiter was great at dinner. He was eager to suggest meals and wine pairings. He was very kind and we enjoyed him. We also made some friends at the wine bar but otherwise the staff isn’t overly remarkable. The staff doesn’t greet you or smile and when asking questions or trying to locate things, the staff doesn’t seem to know ship details beyond their immediate section.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
We heard the ship was getting an overhaul after our trip and this was definitely needed. Edges of carpeting were lifting in many areas and chairs would get caught on planks of flooring. The ship was clean, rooms were always clean but the whole ship needs to be modernized
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Room was always clean and tidy. Compared to the rest of the ship, the room was quite modern looking.
Ship tip
Great “first cruise” but you’ll be disappointed if you have cruises on other lines like celebrity or royal Caribbean. Some excursions did sell out.
We read MSC reviews that embarkation and disembarkation were a mess on the Musica. We can definitely agree that embarkation was a disaster, disembarkation was a dream! Everything was so quick, we got off of the ship before our allotted time slot. Our luggage was ready and everything was very organized.
