Beautiful island. We took a 4WD tour to the Sete Cidades and local town that was there. Our tour guide, Margarita (yes, like the drink) was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

Beautiful lakes and country sides, You must sample the cheese from the "Happy Cow" while you are there. Yes we did an excursion, a wine tour that was in a hotel across the street from the ship. Total not worth the money .

A huge positive surprise...geogeous green islan. Beautiful volcanic lakes. Take a taxi ride for 3 hours....Spotless city and superb port...Lots of restaurants, shops right outside your ship

Misty wet morning we arrived and truly enjoyed the city, people and history. This is a place I could spend time at. Was interviewed and put on the Portugese TV describing my feeling about Friday the 13th. Obviously, I do not speak Portugese... but the interviewer was very kind to send me a copy. He was born and raised on island where he completed his college education. I found out that this side of island was wet, while the other generally dry.

We booked this cruise primarily because we wanted to visit Ponta Delgada. We were very disappointed when they skipped the Azores because of the storm.

We hired an 8 passenger van and toured the seldom visited (by cruise ships) the Nordeste part of the island. No crowds. 75 EUR/pp including a sumptuous lunch.
