Review summary

I am not described as "single" anymore. Now I call myself a "solo traveler" thanks to Royal Caribbean. Boarded the ship alone, and left with many new found shipmates that became friends.

Embarkation

Little slow in opening the doors due to some cleaning issues... but once on everything was great. The help while waiting were very kind and found me a seat which I sincerely appreciated, after flying all night and waiting at airport for 3 hours to be transported to ship.

Main Dining Room

3 out of 5

Fish taco breading was awful at lunch... even fish looked like a sardine?? Not excited about being pushed around the salad bar. Found the buffet much more easy to navigate and enjoy.

Service and Staff

Jessica Ruiz Garcia at Guest Service desk truly helpful, and patient. She knew what was going on and how to help. And then she even followed up to make certain everything was okay. She is a real "keeper". Looking forward to seeing her again on another cruise.

Ship Quality

Love the center court with all the dance classes, exercise, and karokee... always something going on with music and friends congregating. Every upper floor looking down always full of onlookers to the excitement.

Cabin / Stateroom

Other than the maid putting the a/c all the way down, and freezing me out one night.... had to sit in the hall a half hour til it warmed up.... and having to ask for the bath mat on almost daily basis. Perhaps they had laundry problems. Curtains and sofa in need of recovery/replacment (old/dirty).

Ship tip

The Windjammer is best ever for food. Great selection and service. Dr Maria in the Spa was extremely knowledgeable and would see her again... just a little face "maintenance".

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

First time in Tampa, was warm and humid waiting at airport for transportation. Just perhaps I was very tired from flying all night? The ship was undergoing a thorough sanitation process, and they help us for hours outside at the airport.

Ponta Delgada, Azores

Misty wet morning we arrived and truly enjoyed the city, people and history. This is a place I could spend time at. Was interviewed and put on the Portugese TV describing my feeling about Friday the 13th. Obviously, I do not speak Portugese... but the interviewer was very kind to send me a copy. He was born and raised on island where he completed his college education. I found out that this side of island was wet, while the other generally dry.

Cobh (Cork), Ireland

Love this port and people. Very fun, lots to see and do. Tears flowed when I left. Thank the staff at Kelly's. Had a visit to Wiley/McGraff opticians while in port. They were simply fabulous, and enjoyed the cab drivers back and forth being very helpful and describing their city.

Dublin, Ireland Did not visit port

Storm "Irene" would not allow us to dock.

Dunmore East (Waterford), Ireland Did not visit port

Storm "Irene" would not allow us to dock

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Very clean, and extremely easy to get around with the Central Station so close to port. Very helpful people at information counter.

Disembarkation

Very easy.... walked from port to Central Station, and then boarded train to airport. Great idea, as the cab ride was long, and expensive. Needed to talk expecially expecting another 24 hours til home, and 2 very long flights.
