They let us into this port late which sucks because we lost a good amount of time to explore. We did not take a tour instead we opted to walk along the bay down the old city into the squares and around the major sites. It was manageable but cut it close to all aboard time. Too much to take in by foot in the allotted time slot.

Enjoyable experience. Things are a bit spread out in the city so transportation could be an issue. The ship provided a shuttle from the port to a central drop off location that was near the renowned Cathedral. Immediately around the Cathedral are restaurants, ATM machines for obtaining Euro currency (ship did not have the means to exchange currency) and a wide range of shopping opportunities. We chose to use the Hop-On/Off bus that we have used in other cities. Not a great many sites along the route. We did stop at the Belver Castle and enjoyed a self-guided tour (fee paid for the bus included the entrance fee). We intended to tour the Cathedral when we returned to where we started the bus tour but my wife was not feeling well so we took the shuttle back to the ship. We had thought about taking a tour to the Caves of Drach - distance is about 20 miles from the port, but the tour would have taken all day and involved a lengthy bus trip. We did not hear from anyone who did take this tour but it is said that the caves our spectacular. There is a smaller cave not far from the port in Genova - we had anticipated going to this cave but chose not to because of the cost of the taxi and how we were felling. We look forward to going back to this location as the island looked to be a wonderful place to visit.

Did a mainly walking tour. Tour guide walked really fast all the time and it was difficult to keep up! Was really looking forward to visiting the cathedral as we had seen it a few times before from a distance but wasn’t much wowed by the inside.

I did a beach excursion. After being bused through the city, I had time to eat great tapas, shop, and spend the rest of the time at the beach. I liked that I was able to choose the restaurant and stores, rather than be provided select food/local wares on the beach. I didn’t see much of the city, besides what we drove by. Maybe would opt to do that next time.

Another port that surprised us. Beautiful beach with lots of cute shops and restaurants close by. Not knowing too much about this area, we just booked the beach transfer through the Port Adventure desk. We rented beach chairs and an umbrella and spent a few hours in the water, then had lunch nearby before returning to the ship. (There were a few topless bathers, but we explained to our children that this is a normal European thing and they were prepared for it. This is not something they normally see back in the U.S.) Very pretty city.
