We overslept and missed our tour. Did I mention that the balcony rooms have very effective blackout curtains? Once we got moving, we walked around Alesund for a while and then found a very nice Chinese restaurant (Long Cheng). There was a downstairs fast order and an upstairs sit down. The food was good, better than the two Chinese restaurants we have here at home. The prices were reasonable/high, 570 NOK, for two meals.

Did the all day Land of the Trolls coach trip which takes you down the Troll road with its 11 hair pin bends. Amazing views from the top and a lovely buffet lunch when you reach the bottom. A long day but worth it.

Alesund was beautiful! We did a city tour and learned a lot about the city and how they rebuilt after a turn of the century fire. Very picturesque! And we had time after our tour to walk around town. We were fortunate to be in town during their Taste of Alesund festival. It was like a street fair and we stopped for a beer and bought some cheese from one of the vendors. Excellent! People were very nice and loved talking to us about our cruise and where we were traveling from.

Very nice! We did an excursion that toured the area, and an old village. Our tour guide was from Venezuela, and her English was pretty good, but the accent made it challenging at times. She married a Norwegian and moved there with him.

Port ok. Thought it wasn't very inviting, looked a bit run down. Had a walk around part of the town. But we're told later that if we had gone in the other direction it was nicer.

The hill viewing point is quite a steep climb - you may want to consider the little train that goes up there. I also did the ship's rib ride tour. This was a bit terrifying but also very exhilirating and good fun. You are given extensive suiting so you will not feel cold or get very wet. The seats are designed to absorb some of the bumps, but only sit in the front if you like roller coasters.
