Some say that Alesund is the most beautiful city in Norway because of its unique architecture. The city burned down in 1904 and was rebuilt out of brick and stone. Which is different from the rest of Norway where the main building material is wood. Aksla view point is a must! You can either get there on your own and walk the staircase or as part of a tour. We went to the Mount Stranda tour. The views from the mountain are breath taking. In order to get there we took a bus ride, a ferry and then the gondola up to the top. However, the whole tour is just getting to the mountain top and then back. Nothing else. Wish there would be more of a city highlight or other region exploration. Still, h views are unbelievable and one of a kind

Hoho bus here. Pick up less than 100m from the ship we were off and on a few times, but the full round trip is around 80 mins

Very nice city in Norway. Be sure to book a guided tour at Rollo's Footsteps. Very interesting and fun to do. You also get to visit an original viking ship.

Again very nice. An absolute must is to climb the 415 steps to the to of the mountain in the town, for spectacular views over the fjord

I wish we could have stayed here a bit longer - I felt the day was rushed! We had a tour with Norwegian Excursions (Anita) but didn't have time to explore the town at all as we had to be back on the ship at 3pm!

We were here 2 years ago and it felt like the coldest place on earth then, what a difference the sun can make. It was a lovely town, we walked through it quite happily and changed our opinions entirely

Went on a Viking boat with the crew dressed as Vikings. Very informative and guys were very entertaining. They gave us dried fish and cured mutton on board as those were foods the Vikings would have eaten. A memorable experience.

Lovely place to walk around and easy to do your own thing. If you're active there is a walk up around 418 steps to a view point. Stunning views from the top so it is worth it!

Charming and small. We walked the town in about an hour and half. Not much to do.
