Embarkation
5 out of 5
We alwaya book a Neptune suite so embarkation is so easy ans flawless.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food on HAL is top notch even at Lodi buffet. You are served so no other pax are touching food. It takes a bit longer but it's worth it in the quality.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Pools and Jacuzzis are nice, fitness center is big and never felt over crowded. Casino is small but adequate.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We travel with HAL often and have come to realize the entertainment is not good compared to others like NCL and RCL.
However we live in the entertainment city of Las Vegas so we are not looking for that.
Children's Programs
3 out of 5
HAL CLUB is small and sweet. This cruise only had 40 kids on ship and the kids that did go to the Club were few. I felt, unlike other times the kids counselor's didn't get kids playing together. They were very nice but more like babysitters and didn't engage much.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Always saying "hello and cam we get you anything". Never did we once in 2 weeks get any staff that was less happy to engage and service us.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship is maintained very well. Clean and bathrooms were always clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Love this room! Wrap around balcony that we absolutely are spoiled by the views! Spacious room with a King bed, nice twin bed for our 12 year old son. Double sink bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Also has a vanity to sit to do hair and makeup.
This room also comes with free laundry which is awesome and free delivery of room service of nightly dining room menu. Plus room service breakfast has upgraded free entrees like steak and eggs or salmon Eggs Benedict. Also free mimosas.
Ship tip
Zuiderdam is definitely a more cultured crowd and not the party crowd. We like the relaxing atmosphere.
Did Hop On Hop Off Bus on our own. Vehicular up to top of mountain was lovely. There is a lot for kids up there.
We walked through fish market and got to also try whale, moose and deer sausage!
We Did easy hikes to the "singing concrete cones" which was interesting and to waterfalls. Then we had a delicious lunch in town center at El Grillo Bar. Cod wrapped in foil was amazing and they brew their own beers. I had the lager which was great.
We hired a taxi driver at only taxi center which was a short walk from ship for us$240 and visited the Godfoss water falls which is beautiful. After we walked around town center and then to ship.
Hired a taxi for day at port £40 an hour up to 4 pax. Mark Osbourne is a Brit who retired to Inverness and is a scholar of Scottish history. He was amazing. He took us everywhere ww wanted....Loch Ness, Uruqart Castle, Culladin Battlefield, Kerb Cairn (All my Outlander requests) and Fort George. Fabulous Day and super nice person and car!
