We did a private tour to cities about 45 mins from Marseilles so we didn't stay in the port itself. Avignon, Arles and Provence were gorgeous!

We went to go on the tiny train to the cathedral but it got cancelled and they refunded our money because of a “ big bag of danger “. Guess they found a backpack and had thought it was a bomb. Crossed the street and ate at an outdoor cafe. Best ever. Buratta with roasted tomatoes and French bread. Omg!!! Did some shopping on the back to the bus pick up. What a great day.

I used the ships shuttle, which is extra, to get to the city. I should have just followed the green line to the free shuttle, it’s not that far. From there I did the color bus hop on hop off tour. They ran every 30 minutes and I was able to get to 13 different areas. Picked up some great French soap near port viex. Waited about 30 minutes for the shuttle back to ship.

We took the Tiny Train to the Cathedral and it is a definate MUST SEE! Brush up on some basic French though. The little Bistros we ate at were not very good with English. Some locals are NOT helpful to Americans! Overall a great place!

We had purchased the 4 highlights of Marseille. It was terrible. The guide on the tour bus did not point our one point of interest while driving in a big circle. We got dropped off for lunch and she said we could visit the museum. I asked what museum and was told two soap museums and she could not even provide understandable directions. You are better off to just take a cab to the Notre Dame Cathedral and then go back to town have lunch and do it on your own. No need to pay for a guide who does nothing.

Oasis port call. Did a food tour in Aix. It is pretty much like a post card around every corner. Great shopping and food tasting. Another top stop. No issues with language. Beautiful.

Had lots of fun souvenir shopping in the market, offering crafts but local artisans. Found bouillabaise, and visited the cathedral. The little train to the cathedral is easy to find.
