Review summary

We had a very memorable trip! Enjoyed our time with a large group of family and friends. The cruise was perfect for us as it allowed everyone to pick and choose their activities, and then let us all meet at the end of the day for dinner. The itinerary is very busy, so must be organized if you wish to enjoy all the ports of call. Although expensive, the transportation from port each day arranged by RCL was very convenient.

Embarkation

Very efficient. We were on the ship within 20 minutes of arrival at port. Bags at our door within the hour.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food is good, but not great. But this is not a luxury cruise line, and is still of above average quality and taste. Offering something other than buffet style food and main dining room would have been nice. Tried Wonderland, and it was fabulous! But quite pricey. Desserts were much too sweet, but I guess that is according to American taste. Cocktails were only ok. Again much too sweet for our taste. I ordered a dirty martini, and specified good vodka, but I doubt I got the good vodka, and did not taste very good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
More than enough activities to keep everyone busy! Just wish we had more sea days to enjoy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All shows were of great quality. Our favourite was the ice show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All service and staff were excellent. Everyone works very hard to please.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship! We had connecting balcony rooms and this was perfect. Everything was kept very clean, including the balconies and furniture. Closer to the AFT worked out well for us. One day at sea was very rough, and the front of the ship was definitely more rocky than the back.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had adjoining cabins so more than enough room. However, the carpet had a stain, a leftover from the guest before. Too bad, as this is a brand new ship, and is preventing a 5 star rating as we did pay a lot for our two cabins.

Ship tip

We wish we had more pictures taken by the crew! The pictures are of good quality and are not that expensive. This was a very special family trip, and we wish we had more moments captured.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
It is a long way to the city, and in our opinion, not possible to see in a single day. We stayed a few days after the cruise and loved Rome.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Lots of options at this port. We chose to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum. We have seen the Amalfi coast before, but will never tire of the spectacular scenery.

Barcelona, Spain

Visited the Sagrada Familia, the Picasso Museum, found paella, and strolled down Las Ramlas. The metro is easy to navigate.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Very pretty city. We wanted a lazy day and just enjoyed strolling in the town. Visited a small artisan market.

Marseille (Provence), France

5 out of 5
Had lots of fun souvenir shopping in the market, offering crafts but local artisans. Found bouillabaise, and visited the cathedral. The little train to the cathedral is easy to find.

La Spezia, Italy

5 out of 5
Got a taste of the Cinque Terre, hiked one trail, and visited 3 towns. Want to return one day to spend more time. This was one of the highlights of our trip! Breathtakingly beautiful.
