Lerwick was enchanting. Simply a storybook kind of town. The history, the architecture, the scenery, all of it was pretty fantastic. We hired a local guy for the day and got an incredible tour of a great deal of the mainland. Castles, ruins, lighthouses, ponies, seals, tucked away beaches, high looming cliffs and wild seascapes, we got it all in. I would, without a doubt, go back to the Shetland Isles in a heartbeat.

Loved visiting these secluded islands. Serene with lush hilly landscapes like I had imagined. We did a short excursion to visit Shetland ponies which was fun. Then we strolled through the shops in Lerwick which was a charming town.

Very nice town. When you get off the ship they hand you a map with a beautiful walking tour. Absolutely worthwhile to walk. Also very nice is the town hall!

a surprise to see. The port town was great to wander with many of the stores trying to figure out what to sell for tourists. We did most of our shopping here from the outdoor store to Shetland wool stores. Many of us said we wished we had bought more after getting back to the ship.

SOOOO fun to get off the boat and walk around. There's a guy who walks his pet goat. I had tomato soup and a scone next to the UK Cancer Research charity shop where I bought a Debenham's black jacket for 3 pounds. They take English currency or credit cards. No Euros or dollars. There's a Boots Pharmacy and a wonderful hardware store both with goodies and treasures. At least two little shops offered home-made ice cream.
