Lovely little gift shop just outside the terminal, with sand carvings and stone balancing going on.

We liked Berlin. It was a 3 hour train ride each way to get there, but worth it! Very historic and memorable. Great tour!

Berlin was a bit far away, so the excursion was rushed, but enjoyable.

Warnemunde - A quaint seaside town where two lighthouses standing sentinel along the waterfront and a picturesque street of shops & restaurants along the canal whose colourful boats & ferries complete a breathtaking vista. Rostock - A rustic city whose sights connote medieval sceneries and houses the oldest university in Europe - yes, it's older than Oxford University! I think it was inaugurated around the time that William the Conquerer was planning his campaign to invade England.

Very easy to navigate. Bought a day pass and went to Rostock and explored there as well. We chose not to go to Berlin and we are glad. It was nice to have a relaxing, wandering kind of day.

This was our first port and we did the NCL tour of Rostock by Tram & River Cruise. The tour was ok but not great. The Tram portion was good with lots to see. Then, the walking part started. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of this area. Unfortunately, being Sunday, all the stores were closed. It rained and some people wanted to leave the tour by taxi. On the River Cruise portion, there was not much to see. It was mostly to get us back near the ship. I say near because we were left on our own to get a taxi or walk back - it wasn't a long walk, but still...

Be aware that from Warnemunde to Berlim, it takes almost 2 hours by train. The good thing is that the train station is walking distance from the ship. It is a very tiring excursion, as it lasts almost 11 hours. There was also a train accident on the way back which delayed our return more than an hour. I was glad my excursion was with Princess, so they had to wait for us. The nice thing about Warnemunde is that people from the city came out to the port today bye to us.

We did not go to Berlin since it took 6 hours to and back. We took the Schwerin and it's fairy-tale castle tour from NCL which is less than an hour travelling time. After the tour, we went back to the ship and had a light lunch and went to Warnemunde for a tour of our own.
