Amazing place. We did a private tour which I highly recommend doing. Being in a smaller group allows you to bypass some of the hassle. Also, less than the cost of a larger tour offered by the cruise line. Be prepared for a long wait when going through passport control.

Great experience in St. Petersburg. Did a 2-day excursion. Our two guides were excellent. Saw everything we needed and wanted to see. The included lunches were good and gave us a taste of local fare.

Superb city, ALLA Tours are the best in town, considerably cheaper than Cruise operator, the Guide and Driver so professional and kind, small groups and are the only one that offer Faberge Museum.

Had a fabulous 2 day tour organised by P and O. We did the Splendour of St Petersburg. My DH has MS with walking difficulties (uses a walking stick and FES) and was worried about this tour but he managed the whole 2 days. Highly recommend this trip.

Don’t buy the ship tour. It’s triple the cost. We used Shore Excursions and our guide was excellent. Be prepared for big lines. Food was terrible

LOVED this port, definitely the highlight of the cruise. We chose an excursion from an independent company and very much enjoyed it. Our travel partners did a similar excursion with Celebrity and they seemed very comparable, just more expensive.

Used a private guide from Peter's Walk. This wasn't cheap, but not only did we avoid the huge lines at some locations (e.g., the Hermitage), but were able to skip to the front of even the tour groups line and go right in. Another highlight was supper at the neighborhood bar near where our guide lives.

We did a marathon Alla tour which was exhausting but excellent. Expect hordes or tourists everywhere you go. Told to be weary of pickpockets in most cities but in this one particularly.

Again we have been before, so only did a couple of tours which we missed the last time. Just make sure you give enough time to get through passport control, when a few trips go at the same time, there is a rather large line, and the same happened on the return - that was due to the x-ray machine, yep just the one.

Absolutely beautiful city.It needs at least 3 days to see in my opinion. Find another cruiseline which give you 3 days there is a much better option. We stayed two days and 2 nights, because the Captain changed the itinerary. Because of that, we lost the chance to see Catherine palace. ( those tickets had to be bought months ahead!) We went with SPB 2 days tour instead of Norwegian own tours. MUCH CHEAPER!!! And the places you visit are not less.
