The whole trip is quite a disappointment. Everyone I talked to said they would NEVER go back to Norwegian Cruiseline again. A mother told me that the Breakaway charged her over $3000 USD for her child to see a doctor and get medication. It sounds terrified. So bring your own first aid kit and medication. Ask how your travel insurance policy works if you get sick when you buy your travel insurance.

The buffet is a Chaos, it is like people try to get free food at Costco. No clear indication where the lineup starts and for what counter. No one explains. It is clearly understaffed for buffet area. and too many waiters at specialty restaurant. It seems like a calculation of investment and returns. We get the 3 dinning package, and we prepared the service fee for these dinning. No one tells us that we can only use at few specialty restaurants, not all. So you will still get extra charge at those specialty restaurants. I asked for a menu for cocktail, my waiter didn't give me the menu, but highly recommended a cocktail which ended up USD $13.95. It has 2/3 of ice and 1/3 of liquid I want. One the receipts there are place you list for tips amount, but if you read the fine print, it said they already charge 20% service fee! So as I understood, we prepaid service charges, then the specialty restaurants also charge 20% service fee, and then they purposely leave you two more line for tips. all together, how much service fees they charged?!

The outdoor activities are not opened because of bad weather. I got that. But the fitness center is small for a big ship like this e this . The . The best exercise I got on Breakaway is walking up and down those stairs.

Burn the floor seems good at the beginning, then it repeats the same kind of dance, other than the clothes were changed. Rock of Age is absolutely not suitable for young audience. Compare to other cruise line, the entertainment on this cruiseship is not as good as others.

The cheapest cabin, happens to be in the location has the least movement. Other than you can hear people move chairs on my upstairs, it was good.
Beautiful city, but rains so much, the harbour boat ride became a suffer. My cell phone got stolen right before I went to airport. So, yes, the pocket picker are very skillful. The locals told me. We stayed at Copenhagen port on Breakaway for one day and night. But most passengers didn't get notice that we are not even go to Warnemunde ( Berlin)!
We didn't visit the port, I over heard the Captain was not comfortable sailing there because of a storm. Which is very disappointed. Lots of us want to go to Berlin, or the surrounding area of Warnemunde.
A charming little city. Love the old town. You don't need a tour guild for this port. get a map and walk around. ***attention***You should buy your gifts here. They are cheaper than St-Peters burg. I bought handmade soaps and sheep leather. Captain said it wasn't safe to sail to Russia at the end of 1st day. We stayed 2 days there instead of 1.
Absolutely beautiful city.It needs at least 3 days to see in my opinion. Find another cruiseline which give you 3 days there is a much better option. We stayed two days and 2 nights, because the Captain changed the itinerary. Because of that, we lost the chance to see Catherine palace. ( those tickets had to be bought months ahead!) We went with SPB 2 days tour instead of Norwegian own tours. MUCH CHEAPER!!! And the places you visit are not less.

Captain decided not to visit. Every passenger I talked to were very upset about this. I booked this trip 9 months ahead. Some booked 1.5 years ahead. just for this itinerary.We get $44 refund for 3 ports we didn't go. But we spend few thousands to get there to see these ports!!!
Not clear we don't need to go through immigration again. So it only take 5 minutes to leave the ship. If your plan to wait for your friends, wait for them inside the ship somewhere.
@nick684 you will not see another 20% on your service statement. Because it is incluing in the price they listed.eg: The bill from the Moderno restraunant shows the charge for that meal is $24.95. Under the Add'l Tip line and signiture line. It says; "an 20% rlgratuity, beverage and specialty service charge is including in your check. "

For every haters there, you have no idea what really happened on that ship. The weather is not as bad to the point we can't sail to Finland and Sweden. But you had to be there to know the situation. And yes, I am disappointed to this trip, so are the majorirty of the cruisers on that ship. 2 stars are generous...
You only have to pay an up charge at Ocean Blue. The others do not require it. Tips are always included in the specialty restaurants on all cruise lines.
Medical care on board and in a foreign country is very high with their fees. I always have travel insurance when I sail. You never know when you may need it.
I'm only gonna answer the service charge fiasco. Yes the bill says you were charged 20% and yes you paid it already when you paid for your package. They don't charge another 20% when you sit down. If you look at your room bill the only thing you would see pertaining to the restaurant would be any additional tip you might have left. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess you didn't see anything like that.
I was on Carnival Magic September 22-29. I fell in Belize at the ruins and seriously injured my ribs. When I got back onboard the ship, I went to see the doctor and they wanted over $350 to see a doctor and get xrays. I had to wait to get back home to seek medical attention.
It is unbelievable how many people pick everything to death. People learn to READ your contract BEFORE you book. It is very clear about the doctors on the ship if you read the part that pertains to it in the CONTRACT. They tell you it could be Expensive and they don’t take insurance. If that child was clearly that sick I doubt a mother is going to complain about the cost if it helped her child. If she does then she is more worried about money than the welfare of her child. I is amazing how many people these cruise lines are there to cater to their every wish. To some extent they do. But remember IT is a business

My guess is that those you traveled with were not around you too often. Who in their right mind wants to be around someone who picks EVERYTHING apart??? By the way, the people who told you that they would never book Norwegian again, probably told you that for a reason.
another post that is an advertisement for Travel Insurance that includes medical, trip interruption and port changes....... yes, the ship's medical department does not accept Blue Cross Blue Shield..... it would cost the same if not more if you walked into an urgent care or emergency room anywhere in the world.
I don't understand your 2 Stars, too. You could bei happy that you got a changed ports. A whole ship getting seasick because of the weather is not really funny.
OMG. The ship altered the ports because of the weather. Stop complaining as if this wouldn’t happen on another cruise line. This site has become an unofficial complaint department for people that don’t get their way. Complain and whine no useful information anymore.
