Pre-arranged tour with Walter Occhini (Trip Advisor) in which we skipped Florence & Pisa and went to Volterra, San Gimignano & Fattorio San Donato for a "light lunch." Walter is fun to deal with in emails leading up to tour day & even more fun when we got there. We had a great time on excursion from this port.

Free shuttle from the ship. Loved our visit to Florence. Caught private minibus with 6 others near to where they do the Tuscany bus tours. €20 pp. Great value. This also includes visit to Pisa and then drop off at the ship. This was good as we didn't make it in time to use the Tuscany bus tour as they left at 9am it was also the same price. Our driver Max. Was superb. We had 3 hrs to walk around Florence, left at 3pm to give enough time for photos at Pisa.. the port at Livorno is massive and not the best looking. But what would you expect from a working port. The city itself is wonderful as was Florence..

Again we used discovery tours, private for six. Piza was great. Florence was breathtaking, highly educational. Best food in Italy my opinion.

We went to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower; of course it was very crowded. I hear May or October are much better times to visit (we went in August).

We did the Cinque Terre since we had seen Florence & Pisa through our land tour and really enjoyed these villages.

Pisa is only good for taking couple photos and do not allocate too much time here.
