A: My cruise in late October has us spending two days at this locating.

A: On the two cruises I've been on that ported there, you needed to have booked an excursion. There were not public busses that went to Pisa and Florence. The excursion busses were clearly marked just outside the port area

A: please consider if you go any distance away from ship on your own, the ship will not wait for you. in August, a family of 6 were left behind as they went to Rome on their own and were delayed. at their own expense they had to rejoin ship in Spain.

A: we used Shipmate and booked a tour to both Florence and Pisa. we found it to be very rushed with approximately 2 and half hours in Florence and less than an hour in Pisa rue to having to walk distances to and from the parked bus. A: I have been to that Port last year. A shuttle (paid) was offered from the ship to the City. Walking inside the port area is not allowed. We took the train to Pisa which was less than 20 minutes. Florence is also possible by train but we were there be... fore.See More

A: This is a frequent question. I think so long as this port is a call and not disembarkation that's plenty of time. Further the vendor operating the your will hopefully have other bookings from your ship and he'll be very attuned to your ships arriva... l and clearance.... Book It !See More

A: I would be surprised. The train station is quite far out the port. Walking doesn’t seem to be a great option here either, as again, it’s a long distance. Maybe the cruise line offers shuttles, if not I believe your best bet is the taxi.

A: Florence to the port of Livorno is 95 kilometres, to the port of La Spezia is 166 Kilometers

A: We were going to do it last year, but be aware it is almost 6 hours of travelling back and forth to port. And that’s not taking into account traffic…

A: I second what DaddyBill said. We also decided to stay the night in Florence. We decided this because I felt it was too much hassle to get in and out of Livorno 4 times. To get to Florence with reasonable cost, we’d have to take the port shuttle in... to town, then take either a taxi or bus to the train station, then take a train to Florence. A convenient but expensive option is to hire a private car to pick you up at the ship and drive you 1:20 to Florence. Most drivers want €400 for this, one way! Or you can negotiate with the taxi drivers in Livorno and see if you can get a better rate, too much of a gamble for me. For our cruise, we wouldn’t arrive in Florence until 12:30. Considering the last train left at 9:30 that gave us 9 hours. Sounds good except it’s the same hassle to get back to the ship, really late, only to get up and do that rigmarole over again.See More

A: we even stayed overnight in Florence. As a courtesy, we did tell Azamara before we left the ship

Answered by bbqlover on June 4, 2023

A: There is no curfew for overnight port stays.

A: I asked this same question to my sailing group on Facebook. Several people experienced with Norwegian Cruise Lines said when they’ve stayed overnight, at other ports, with NCL, they had a 1am cut off time to board the ship. Then people could board... again around 6am. Perhaps rules are different for each cruise line, or perhaps the port matters? Sorry if I just threw a wrench into your planning.See More

A: There is no curfew for overnights. However, if you do not plan to return until the next day, it is advisable to inform the ship as so in case of any emergency they know where you are and how to contact you.

A: We have plans to spend a night in the city vs returning to the ship for the overnight stay in Livorno. After doing the math, it was actually slightly less expensive to to pay for round trip transportation from the cruise port to town just once and sh... are the costs of an AirBnB for 4 people than it was to go back to the ship the first night and pay for transportation a second time the next day. Of course there are meals to consider, but we think it will be a fun adventure nonetheless.See More

A: I saw a Pisa and Lucca tour on you own for about $40. Good deal. We loved Lucca but don’t miss Pisa.

Answered by rvswenson on January 22, 2023

A: The short answer is ‘no’ the port miles away from Pissa. You will need either a ship tour or make your own arrangements.

Answered by BreakingBass on January 11, 2023

A: We had planned to take the train into Florence, but at the end of the pier there were several tour operators and we took one with a van. He took us and 1 other couple to Florence for several hours, and stopped at Pisa on the way back. It was a grea... t day!See More

A: Virtually every port will have tour operators on the pier offering tours.

Answered by hsmith0127 on May 25, 2022

A: We did the same. The driver will take you wherever you want to go, time permitting. The best thing to do is get three couples to share the van cost.
