We went to Florence on our own. It's a nice city and we saw a lot...and did lots of walking....which we love to do. Tried to fit in a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but there wasn't enough time. Waited too long on line to see Michelangelo's "David" at the Gallerie Acedemia. It was nice to see, but the time could have been better spent. Had we not waited in line, we might have seen the Tower.

We took the "Pisa and the Beach" tour. It was good except we didn't have enough time at MIracle Square (45 minutes) and had well too much time at the beach (4 hours) . The beach was a beautiful, well groomed beach, but four hours was too much. We all agreed we would have rather had more time in Pisa.

Leaning Tower of Pisa & all the surrounding historic buildings were spectacular. We took the city bus/train on our own with absolutely no problems. We sat and had a delicious coffee after touring the sites and just marveled that we were in Pisa!

Florence was a "must see" stop but you should choose your tours very carefully to ensure you will see what you want to see i.e. we were not able to walk through the Ponte Vecchio.
