A bus strike cancelled our tour, but we hired a taxi on our own.

Stay in Trastevere on the West side of the Tiber river for a true Rome experience. It is easy to walk everywhere with lots of little cafes at every turn. We made Hotel San Francesco our home base.

Rome is one of the most popular Euro city break locations. Its splendor is world renowned & rarely equaled, it's history without parallel. So it's sometimes a victim of its own success. Mid spring & summer months, especially weekends quickly swells tourist numbers. Best days then are Tues and Wed

We went to the beach in Santa Marinella. We rented chairs and umbrellas and enjoyed some authentic culture seaside with very few tourists. It was a very, much needed, relaxing day,

Sistine chapel was closed due to St. Joseph Holiday. That’s why we took this particular tour. But, overall, still a great excursion.

Rome is a beautiful city. We did not do a RC excursion, but rather stayed in Rome for a couple of days before embarkation. Per my previous comments on embarkation, RC transport to the ship made it very easy to do Rome as you please as long as you want before embarkation and worrying less about getting to the ship.

The port is 90 minutes away from Rome. We visited Rome after the end of the cruise and stayed at the Albani Hotel. I truly wished I had stayed more days in Rome. I absolutely loved this city. The locals are all very very friendly! We walked 9 miles and visited as much of the history of the town as we could. The food was outstanding as well. I’m going back!
