My wife and daughter went on a guided tour to Rome - private rail journey there and back and again - and again this deserves a visit on its own. I enjoyed a leisurely walk around the town itself which has its own character as a typical working Italian town.

The bus from the train to the terminal was supposed to run every 10 minutes, but it wasn't running at all. We ended up taking a taxi with a group of others ($5 each for 6 of us). It took us right to the entrance for the cruise. Book an excursion to Rome at the end of the cruise after the ship returns!
