Amazing to finally see the forbidden isle. We took the eight hour excursion. A HUGE disappointment is that the Hemingway House was removed from our tour and that's why we choice this one. Did enjoy overall. The hour at the hot and crowded souvenir warehouse is the stuff of nightmares, but the people and their wares were not the problem. It's way too crowded and hot. Thirty minutes is enough time. Lunch was fun with entertainment and I liked the chance to walk a bit in old town. The cemetery was actually more interesting than expected. The mosaic place is something you need to see to believe. Guide was wonderful.

Cuban customs was very easy. No problem. Havana is pathetic and needs outside money for renovations for their 500th anniversary. People are very sad and do not smile. Wild dogs on our Sunday walking excursion in the old city were a bother. Guide, Yakarta, was great. Did the Hemingway tour, which we highly recommend, since it also goes to the fishing village featured in the "Old Man and the Sea". Nighttime went to Buena Vista Social Club for a really, rousing good time. Great singers and music. Overall Cuba has two main attractions, musicians and Havana Club rum. Other than that the country is devoid of any real attraction. Will probably never go back, but we wish the Cuban people a better future.

We did the bus tour which was amazing because you really get to hear the history of the island and the people. however, the highlight was just walking around Havana. we walked around for almost 3 hours and had a great time. the city is really safe, everyone is friendly and helpful. i have never enjoyed a city as much as i enjoyed Havana. Also, if you can go overnight so you can spend time at the night bars where the city really wakes up.

I loved the ease of getting on/off the ship. We loved Havana and can't wait to go back. However, the excursion we did was not good. The evening stroll through Havana. Our guide "Tony" was unprepared and didn't share enough information about the city at all! He didn't offer to take any pictures of anyone, he didn't tell us how the tour route would work, he didn't give us any time to enjoy any live music we saw. And he went off on rants about the country twice! It was awkward and annoying. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but not the right guy for that job!

Still a lot of dis-repair evident in Havana. But there are isolated areas of renewal evident. Better organization is needed from customs, immigration, currency exchange, vendors, transportation. But it is rather new to the tourist market and time will help improvement. Currently, it is struggling and progress is on the horizon.

We stopped in Havana, Cienfegos and Santiago de Cuba leaving from and returning to Miami, Jan. 3-13 for our anniversary. Beautiful country and people. Most appear happy. Living conditions poor. Glad we went. We had previously been to Havana but wanted to experience other areas of the country. Oceania's Sirena was superb. Great food, tours, staff, etc. Photos posted on Review pages.
