Was panhandled from the moment we stepped off until we got back on. I understand that Cuba is a poor Communist country, but I think I handed more $ out to the beggars than I did on any other thing. I feel horrible for these people and helped out the best I could, but it took away from trying to learn the history and culture of the island.

Quite an interesting city. Lots of poverty and a dirty city. It was obvious the lack of initiative that the residents have under the communist rule. The excursion we chose got cancelled so we did the Best of Havana with Hemingway. It was interesting, but a long day. And it seemed it wasn't real well planned out with regard to the stops, etc. We also did the Tropicana and the show was amazing.

Was not informed of the money exchange closure before my excursion got done. I pointed this out to the service desk and got the "not my fault" lecture from the clerk. I was not complaining, just trying to tell them to point it out for future guests and got way more attitude back than really needed or wanted.

Main reason for thls cruise. Were not disappointed. We took the ships' walking tour of Old Havana. Husband liked and wife said it was OK. Lots of fast info from tour guide who was very nice but not time for many questions. Guide was verfy proud ofher country and never mentioned community ruleand very very poor living conditions. We both enjoyed the Rum tasting and cigar smoking and explanation from store manager, althought we did not light up. Seeing the old cars was very interesting. Locals were very nice and welcoming. Felt very safe. All guns were confiscated from residents by Castro, so only communist regime has guns so safe as far as local crime but one has to wonder if communist government could ever be overcome.

It was fun to go there, see the old cars. The city is in a long state of decay. People are warm and nice. A few bright spots such as the Hotel National (a must see) but all-in-all crumbling buildings, streets and sea walls. Progress seems to have stopped about 1958 and proof that Socialism/Communism does not bring economic boom. While I am glad we went, Cuba is not on our list to revisit. I would never discourage anyone from going but it's not like Hawaii or even the Bahamas. We did find people who spoke English and it was fun to chat with them.

Terrible port area. We were booked on the evening excursion to the Fort. That excursion was good. However, if you don’t speak Spanish you were basically at a loss to understand. Even the hop on tour bus only spoke Spanish. Some guidance from NCL would have really helped at this port. All anyone ever said was Havana is unlike anywhere else. They were right - it was terrible.

We loved Cuba so much that we immediately booked another trip there. Unfortunately Trump blocked our 2nd trip so we'll have to wait until after the next election to return. We were drivin around all day in a 58 dodge with our own driver and tour guide. Awesome excursion!
