They have updated the port. Much nicer not so many people bombarding you to buy things.

This port was busy. We hopped on Bus #10 for $1.25 A person and took a quick 15 min ride to Melia Resort where we purchased a day pass to use their 4 pools and beach. Beautiful resort. There were women and men selling t-shirts, bracelets, necklaces, and cover ups as well as hair braiders on the beach. I was surprised by that but They were not harassing. They came walking by every so often, not too pushy like when you first get off the pier. The cost of the day pass was $45 which included a Starbucks coupon for the Starbucks in the hotel. Towels & wifi were included. I asked about a food package but I was told they didn't offer one. Pretty sure I saw an offer online for a buffet. Nonetheless we are a good breakfast on the ship and headed over there for a few hours then back to the shop for a late lunch. It turned out perfect for the weather we had because it was windy and 75 degrees. A little cool for the beach so the pools and hot tub were a great option. There was almost no one at the family pool. Very relaxing day. The bus drops you off right near the straw market so we quickly walked through there as well.

So I know that Nassau often gets a bad reputation. But I personally love it and this is the 2nd time I visited. Yes there are a lot of people close to the Dock who will try to sell you all sorts of odds and ends but once you step away from bay street a lot of the hawkers will stop bothering you. My personal highlights are the governors house, the Graycliff factories and in particular the John Watling distillery which is also free to visit.

Nas song was beautiful. The ride on the ferry to Nassau was breathtaking. Just being in the middle of the ocean seeing nature was amazing. We did the dolphin encounter which was perfect for my daughter. She was able to be up and close with the dolphins and learn a lot. Afterwords, We spent time at the beach swimming and finding seashells. A great experience.

Having been here numerous times and only seeing the port area and Atlantis, we decided to take a taxi tour of the island. We met Wellington Williams and his taxi and for $25 a person he took just the 3 of us all over the entire island. We learned things we had not known before. It was a great day.

I didn't want to leave a bad review but we only got off the ship for about 40 minutes. I was looking to get a charm for my Pandora bracelet. We went straight to the Pandora store and went back onto the ship.
