Same issue here about LONG pier. Shopping area was OK--mostly jewelry. We had an excursion booked (thru Carnival) but it was cancelled---NOT Carnival's fault. Disappointed. Just a tram around the island, but sorry to miss it. No problem getting refund.

The island and beach was beautiful but the amount of umbrellas made it difficult to get to the water without bending over constantly and walking through other people. Probably the time of year I went, it was super crowded. But beautiful.

We did the swim with the sting rays excursion. This was fun because we got to snorkel in two different places and explore the reefs. Our guides were great and lots of fun. We didn't get to dive for our conch shells because of the strong current but our guides dove down and got some for us. The only thing was the brochure said we would get to keep a conch shell with a note saying we could have it but when we asked about it they said we wouldn't be able to keep it because of customs.

We walked to Jack’s shack. Rented 6 chairs and 3 umbrellas for $30. They had free WiFi. The kids bought snorkeling gear on the ship. My son stayed in the water until it was time to leave. Very relaxing port, which I loved.

Love the free beach and close shopping. There is even the option of going to Margaritaville and jumping in the free pool. I would definitely advise wearing water shoes since the beach is rocky and the waves can get rough.

We did the glass bottom boat tour. Knowledgeable guides, very amusing as well. Very nice beach right by dock.

I marked down a star because the service at the hotel on Pillory Beach was utterly appalling. They have a lot to learn about customer service, and if Grand Turk is indeed a "Carnival Island", some training is required there to bring them in line with the generally excellent customer service Carnival offers on their ships. The destination itself is stunning, and definitely forces you to relax and appreciate the natural beauty of the place. Our cab driver went above and beyond, coming all the way back to Pillory Beach, waiting for us and making sure we made it safely back to the ship in time for departure.
