One of our favorite destinations being there multiple times via cruise or all inclusive resorts. No excursion this trip. Caught a cab at port to downtown for $8. Did some shopping a a few drinks. Negotiated a $60 windward side "hop" with a tour agent in the plaza for our party of four. This was a small minivan cab with driver and an allotment of 3 hours. His english and my espanol is poquito. But, we started it off stopping at a local convenience store getting some drinks and snacks along with our drivers favorite drinks for him and had a great time. Spent some time at Coconuts which is alway's a must for us. He also showed us a couple of photo opportunities we hadn't known about. Cozumel is a stop where you can definitely strike out on own and avoid getting herded with the masses to what can be an somewhat over rated and over priced beach excursion.

Liked seeing a new place, local wares, beautiful color of water. Wish the description of the snorkeling was better as I was not able to participate (required accomplished swimmer). A floating board may have been helpful but didn't seem to be available.

Took shore excursion to mainland “Playa Del Carmen” to see the ancient ruins of Tulum. It was SOOOOOO HOOOOT!!! our guide was with of most of the time to ensure we didn’t get lost. He recommended a good place to get food for only $12 and it came with chips/salsa and a drink. For my drink I got a margarita. I also purchased Horchata and got a huge cup for $4. I leaned a lot on the ride. The walk from the drop off point to the ruins is kinda long but I think the extreme heat made it seem longer. You can catch the open air shuttle for $5pp. We took it back.

We had been to Cozumel before and enjoyed it equally as much this trip. We went to Playa De Mia resort for a day and had a wonderful day. What a great idea to have a beach, pool/water park with no hotel. The service was excellent, food was minimal but the beach and toys on the beach made the trip worthwhile. We had easy taxi service getting to the location. We came back in time to shop and enjoyed Malcolm's welcome back to the ship. It was a nice touch to have water with lemon waiting on the docks when people came back on the ship.
