Again, a very good experience overall and positively recommend. Mobile was a great port for us. The staff on the ship was the friendliest we've encountered. Most of the fellow passengers were from within driving radius and were likewise very friendly. Based upon cost to experience ratio, I rate it the experience a solid 95% positive. Will definitely look at this port for future cruises less than 6 days.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was seamless with minimal wait time
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
"Your time dining" was assigned to our party. Main dining room - Did dinner 4 of 5 nights and it was consistently good. Breakfast once and it was good as well. Buffet was hit and miss the whole cruise. Soft serve ice cream was intermittently available.. Best guess being it not available 30 % of the cruise. Guy's burgers and Blue Iguana was very good. Deli sandwiches were tolerable.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Waterslides were good and that area was not crowded.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Main theater shows were aligned with typical cruise productions good but no great.
Cats Lounge band the Astronauticals were excellent.
Children's Programs
No children in party
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Ship staff worked very hard to provide a present experience
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Housekeeping was quite good in common areas. Holiday decorations in Atrium where well done. Traversing ship to different venues was a challenge due to older design. Serenity areas are small.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Interior cabin was more than adequate in size for the two of us. Shower was larger than usual. Minimal storage in bathroom. No refrigerator. But our Cabin steward filled our small cooler with ice each morning. A hair dryer was provided in this cabin and also in the cabin of the other couple in our party.
Ship tip
Mid ship cabin on deck "E" (7) provide quick access to venues
Overnight stay at Country Inn and Suites in Saraland. Large rooms at a great price. Also purchased their parking and shuttle service to/from port. Will do the same for future Mobile cruises. Ate at nearby Wentzels Oyster House and it was a great experience
One of our favorite destinations being there multiple times via cruise or all inclusive resorts.
No excursion this trip. Caught a cab at port to downtown for $8. Did some shopping a a few drinks. Negotiated a $60 windward side "hop" with a tour agent in the plaza for our party of four. This was a small minivan cab with driver and an allotment of 3 hours. His english and my espanol is poquito. But, we started it off stopping at a local convenience store getting some drinks and snacks along with our drivers favorite drinks for him and had a great time. Spent some time at Coconuts which is alway's a must for us. He also showed us a couple of photo opportunities we hadn't known about. Cozumel is a stop where you can definitely strike out on own and avoid getting herded with the masses to what can be an somewhat over rated and over priced beach excursion.
We love Mexico. We cherish the people, the work ethic and culture. Unfortunately, Progresso is not the gateway we prefer. The shuttle bus provided basically feeds you to the wolves. This is a port where you want to book an excursion prior and go see or do whatever you wish. Our stop was a early exit off the ship, catch the shuttle, quick walk down to the beach strip. a few purchases along the way and by a long wait for the shuttle back to ship. We were back on board by 11:00.
