Overall, the cruise was fine. Hiccups here and there but I can’t wait to sail again. I would do this same itinerary again and choose different excursions to try more out. I loved my room and would definitely choose that one again.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Surprisingly quick process. I made sure to upload all of my information before I boarded so the process was smooth. The lines moved fast as well.
My cooler was confiscated since I apparently don’t know my dimensions but I would love for carnival to offer a process to where I could pick it back up at the end of the cruise.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food was less than good. I had to have my food replaced or remade on 3 separate occasions for it with not being made correctly, being lukewarm or being inedible. But if you can choke it down, please do because your food won’t bet back to you for another hour… no exaggeration.
Due to a food mishap and the long wait, a waitress tried to take our table. Started giving me the 3rd degree about why I was there and asking to see my phone for the reservation. I’m like, look 👀, I e been here for two hours waiting on my food. I’m not leaving.
The pizza and sandwich joint were amazing so was the blue cantina and Guy’s place.
I had better food when I sailed on the oldest ship in the fleet back in 2017.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The only show I attended was the magic show and it was really good.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Staff was rude at times and trying to herd us like cattle but we’re not cattle or children. We can go wherever we choose. This instance was while wait for dinner. A man was trying to go to the elevator and the staff was blocking him since it was next to the dining area.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very clean and well designed. Cleaning crews were constantly wiping railings, handles and common area. I love the hand washing stations.
Ship tip
Have fun, plan to be at dinner for 2hrs minimum and plan for a meal afterwards because right now the food isn’t great.
Took shore excursion to mainland “Playa Del Carmen” to see the ancient ruins of Tulum. It was SOOOOOO HOOOOT!!! our guide was with of most of the time to ensure we didn’t get lost. He recommended a good place to get food for only $12 and it came with chips/salsa and a drink. For my drink I got a margarita. I also purchased Horchata and got a huge cup for $4. I leaned a lot on the ride. The walk from the drop off point to the ruins is kinda long but I think the extreme heat made it seem longer. You can catch the open air shuttle for $5pp. We took it back.
Do not eat at the places in port!!! The are expensive ($26 for nachos // $16 for chips/salsa) and not good. I returned my food and only paid for the drink. We ordered chicken nachos. The chicken looked good but lacked seasoning. The guacamole looked good but lacked seasoning. They used cheese sauce vs. real cheese.
There are lots of shops at this port so it was good to walk around m, browse and buy souvenirs.
Quick and easy. The only negative is how my bags were handled. Got to my bag and it was leaking water due to my souvenir mug from Guy’s Smokehouse being shattered.
