If you go to the beach, don't pay for umbrella and chairs until you confirm that there aren't free areas available. At Eagle beach, the thatched umbrellas are public and free. You will be immediately approached by someone selling chairs and umbrellas, and it is not an inexpensive rental.

Aruba is a nice port, though this is my third visit so I didn't venture out of the pier area at all this time.

Love Aruba. We did a princess shore excursion that was "nice". Small amount of time at the butterfly farm. Less time at the aloe Vera plantation but it was super fast so that they could sell you their product. The rock formation was fun. We booked our second excursion through United and we went wind surfing. It was a 10 star! The instructor was patient and so nice. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. They let us go over the time, which we had no idea that it was over time.

Beach very beautiful and shopping fair. Dissapointed that taxi would take us to donkey rescue but was not available to bring us back unless we paid for them to stay and wait for us. That made me nervous so we missed out on that. I suggest buying an excursion if that is what interest you. But it's timely and costly to buy an excursion to go there if your not interested in doing other activities on the itinerary.

We went on the Helmet Dive Excursion at DePalm Island, booked through Celebrity. The helmet dive was a lot of fun. We were in a group of six with two divers. We followed a route while holding onto metal railings about 15 feet deep. There were a jeep and old bus with many fish swimming around. The divers had us pose with bottles, sitting in chairs, sitting in the jeep, etc. It was hokey but fun. They fed the fish, so we were able to see swarms of fish and "pet" them. It was fun to try. The fish were pretty, but not the best we have seen. DePalm Island itself is OK,a private beach club. The beach sections are very small "pocket" beaches. There is a splash zone water park for kids and some other activities. There is a bar and buffet breakfast and lunch. We had enough time for the helmet dive, a little time on the beach and for a swim, and some lunch and drinks. We had to leave by 1:15 pm, so it is really not a day at the beach. The water was rough the day we were there, and it rained for a little while.

Booked online thru Resorts for the Day. (TIP) make sure to call your credit card company before leaving the US to let them know you are out of country. We were advise that resort did not take cash only cc. We got there and tried to use our cc but they were declined . So we pooled our cash and had enough to pay balance and have enough for return taxi fare. Went to beach area with restaurant, and was hit up by restaurant staff to pay for lounge chairs, which were to be complimentary, I had the letter stating what was included. Daugher overheard restaurant staff only charging $18 per chair for people who just took taxi to beach. When it came time for lunch, we asked restaurant staff what was available for the 5 of us to spend of our voucher. They could not say. At that point, husband asked for voucher back and proceeded to front desk of resort. After speaking to different managers, he was able to get the rest of our money back. We should have gotten it all, but he thought it fair to pay $30 dollars for use of the 3 beach chairs. Will pursue this later with Resorts for the Day.
