We took a water taxi to the beach. The people on this island speak either only French(dialect) or a little English. We tried our best with Siri and some high school French. We had a few good experiences with locals, but mostly the people were not friendly. You would think they would try since a lot of their income comes from tourists. It’s not an Island I would go back to or recommend. There was a great little bakery up the street from the beach. I wish I could remember the name. Had the best quiche for breakfast and a fresh chocolate croissant. It’s at the top of the hill from the boardwalk the water taxi drops you off at.

Lovely place and once again a great tour by local taxi. Fantastic beaches just like you imaging them to be in the Caribbean.

We visited the main park and there seemed to be quite a bit of drug use going on. There are some nice sculptures in the park and the library is a beautiful building.

No excursion at this port. We just got off and walked around a bit. This was the only port it rained pretty much the whole time. Had some excitement getting to this port, which caused a 3 hour delay in arriving. Our ship had to answer a distress call from a sail boat that was drifting out at sea. We had to leave some of our crew on the sailboat to help them get to Martinique. As it turned out, the sailboat had not arrived by the time we were to depart so we had to go back and pick up our crew. Another reason to book your excursions thru the cruise lines. People that booked private tours had some issues. In the end, our crew was able to fix the sail boat and it arrived safely in Martinique. The Captain said this was the first time this has every happened if his career. Quite the excitement for everyone.

Booked excursion locally, this was perfect for the wife and I because we were able to shape our excursion to see and do what we wanted to do.
