Skip this port nothing to see even the tours, I heard are inaudible. Not one to see. Stay on board and have a great day.

Samana was not as bad as some said. It's no different than the Honduras or Belize. We found a very nice quiet beach to spend the day on and found great souvenir deals.

As the port guide said - the Dominican Republic is a third world country. Very little shopping, very few excursions, and the locals will rip you off if you go with them for a tour or a ride.

Palm trees everywhere, but passengers didn't seem to stay on shore for long

did the tour of the island on my own and was very disappointed. The ship's excursions might be better here.

This island was new to cruise costomers (only since Dec 2006). There were lots of people begging in the streets. Everything was extremely overpriced. However, the island was beautiful with its lush rainforest and beautiful beaches.

Go to the waterfall. Find a taxi that will take you there and hopefully have someone who speaks spanish.
