I heard mixed opinions on the White Pass railroad ride, but am so glad we went! It lasts a little longer than I'd prefer but the amazing nature scenery was well worth it. Just grab some snacks and drinks before boarding the train (we got some frybread) and enjoy the ride. They offer free bottled water on board, and there is a small bathroom in each car.

Skagway was interesting and fun. Many shops that are mainly for tourists but nice to browse. Took the narrow rail train and that was very enjoyable. Highly recommend the train. We took the 3 plus hour trip that gave us time to see the sights and have lunch in town.

Jewell Garden glass blowing session....fab fab fab experience ! I'd suggest contacting them direct as they will open up more sessions if the need is there. Our creations were posted to UK and arrived safely and intact!

I think our favorite port in Alaska was Skagway because of the White Pass and Yukon Route railway excursion! If you go to Skagway you MUST do this! It was about 3 1/2 hours and the views were spectacular! Totally worth it. We booked it through Norwegian but it would be easy to book it outside the ship (I bet it would be cheaper). We also went on a hike before the ride and we happened upon a stream where the salmon were running!

we took the White Pass rail train and had excellent weather, the train ride was very informative and Goldiblocks our guide really was a great guide, from there we went gold panning and got to see Sled dogs that will be competing in this years Iditarod along with getting to hold 3 week old puppies!
