I really enjoyed seeing a few local children selling crafts/food they made..they were located outside of the visitors center and near the ship. I wish there were local crafters or kids set up like that at every port. I prefer to support the local community vs. commercial shops with imported items.

We did the Raptor Center (definitely recommend), Fortress of the Bear (we liked this but would have preferred more time at the Raptor Center) and the Sitka National Historical Park (beautiful place to hike/walk around)

beautiful city and surrounding views. we were here on july 4th and got to watch their Parade. lots of fun. transportation to town was provided free of charge.

We LOVED Sitka! Small town, friendly people and the BEST whale watching tour ever! Only 4 of us on the boat and took us right up (within safe distance) to the whales. Sea lions, seals, eagles, puffins and more! We WILL go back to Sitka one day!

There is Lots of Russian history there but very touristy.
