This was my favorite. Not to large and not to small. Loved exploring. Shopping was the best. Food was excellent. Everyone friendly and helpful. We only had about 4 hours, I wish we could have had a full day.

This is definitely a tourist town! We did the Adventure Kart excursion and had a blast! The town is full of shopping and restaurants so no shortage of places to go.

Loved the look of the shops along Creek street. Went on an excursion not put on through Princess and saw so much and learned a lot about the area and Alaska. Saw the totem poles, fish ladder, people fishing off the shore, a waterfall, black bears, eagles , an eagle feeding a baby in the nest, fisherman bring up a new on a boat, a park and more.

We did the Ducks excursion here and that was fun, not too long, but learned about the town. There was lots of shopping and restaurants. We had lunch at a restaurant, The Crab Cracker Seafood Bar, and my husband said the crab was delicious. At most ports there were lots of sales being the end of the cruising season, so if you like to shop that was nice.

It rained, it always rains (260 days a year) in Ketchikan. The Salmon and rain headquarters of the region, Ketchikan's Walking Tour was informational and interesting.

We arrived here a bit later and had later shore excursions so by the time we exited Star, there were swarms of people from the 4 other ships already in town. Getting over to Creek Street to check that out provide to be difficult with mass of others. By late afternoon, most had gone and we had the place to ourselves. The Funicular was not working so we walked up Married Man's Trail to the Cape Fox Lodge and took in the totem poles there. I took one daughter with me on a flight seeing trip over Misty Fjords. We were met at the port and the rain gauge (right in front of where Star was in port) and were driven over to the departure location (maybe a 5 min drive and only due to so much congestion in port. We went up with Randy from Mountain Air Service and I couldn't have been more comfortable with him. He is a very experienced pilot and had a great demeanor considering the number of questions asked almost non-stop from 3 other passengers during the first 45 minutes we were in the air. Since the weather was so clear we had amazing views from the air that I feel lucky to have experienced. A tip, plan a slightly later morning departure since the fog cancelled the 8 am departure that day. My husband and other daughter went out with Southeast Exposure on their Alaska Boatman Adventure driving a Zodiac boat. Only 1 other couple joined them and Murph, their guide, was fantastic and entertaining. A great time for them as well.

This is where you buy your trinkets and do not forget the heavy duty reversible coat ($19.95) available at the dock. Prices for all trinkets will be as much as double or more, at other ports. Shop now, or forever pay Visa.

We went to the Rainforest and Raptor Center. It was very educational. Later we shopped at the locally owned stores on Creek Street. This part of town is built on stilts and board walks over the falls it was so pretty.
