Lovely town, walking distance to Towson area from Ship was good. Great seafood restaurant right across from port.

We did the Misty Fjord Flightseeing and it was beautiful! There is a longer (more expensive) flight that includes bear watching at samlon running in River that sounded super cool. We also did walking tour on our own to totum museum (cost was $6/person). There is a super awesome river where we saw salmon running and jumping up water falls called Salmon Ladder. No charge and I recommend it as an item not to be missed! Located on Creek Street.

We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the town and walking the trails and seeing the small waterfalls.

United Excursion: It was raining in this port & we had some problems finding our excursion location. Once we did, we found out it was cancelled (Float plane to Misty Fjords). We booked another excursion where we saw a salmon ladder in a waterfall, a salmon fishery, a heritage center on totem poles & a bay where we saw bald eagles & a location where bears frequent. We did not see bears, but on the way back, we saw a black bear crossing the road.

Rented a vehicle and drove from one side to the other. Really enjoyed our own personal touring around the tongass National Forest. Unfortunately multiple people suggested a hike on Whitman Trail but it was awful. Nothing more than a gravel service road with scraggly views. Waste of time. The only thing that would have redeemed it would have been a bear sighting. There was obviously a bear there because there was a ton of bear scat on the road. Unfortunately we didn't see him. It was a hot and sunny 70 degree day so I'm sure he was hidden away in the shade somewhere.

Ketchikan was definitely our favorite place. It was just a beautiful little town that I absolutely wish I had more time to spend in. We had an excursion canoeing and a Jeep ride. It was absolutely the best time I've ever had. Our guide was Michael and he was be on perfect. The clam chowder was delicious. I would totally do that excursion again.

No need for an excursion! Walk to Cape Fox Lodge for lunch, walk to Creek Street, SE Alaska Discovery Center and the Deer Mountain Hatchery & Eagle Center. City bus to Totem Bight State Park. Easy to see/do it all independently.

My husband and I weren't even going to get off at this port, but we're so glad we did. Just walked the port/town, posted some letters and just sat and enjoyed the pier. Next time we're going to do an excursion. This little port is so lovely.

Such a cute town!! Loved the part that is above a creek on a boardwalk type setting. So charming. We saw a ton of jellyfish floating around the harbor. Neat!

Best port for shopping with lower prices! Alaska is pricey no matter where you’re at but had better deals on shirts!
