It was raining when we arrived and we headed to Creek Street and then walked to Totem Heritage Center. We caught the free shuttle back to the pier where we met our guide for our float plane tour of Misty Fjords. Highly recommend the float plane tour as Misty Fjords is unbelievably beautiful!

I read before I came here that there were a lot of jewelry/ diamond stores. I thought everyone was exaggerating. Every where you turn there was a diamond store. Anyway, I really loved this little town, it was quaint and cute.

We loved Ketchikan! A beautiful town, and definitely needed more time here. We enjoyed the Lumberjack Show, Creek Street, and walking around town during our short stay. Were blessed to have a beautiful sunny day too.

We did a 5 hour kayak and hike Southeast Sea Kayaks. Ryan was our guide. We were the only couple on the tour, neither of us had kayaked before. Had a great time, saw a ton of wildlife, had lunch on an island beach.

Cute town, we did a salmon fishing charter, this excursion was a bust. I do no like charter excursions but figured I would give it a shot. No fish but it was a beautiful day to be out on the water.

Be prepared for rain. It rains a lot in this port. Choose your excursions with this in mind. Also check the time your ship will be in port. We chose the crab fest and ended up eating crab at 10:00 AM. Check out Creek Street if you can.

The final stop was Ketchikan. This day, we chose to walk around the town on our own. We visited the Totem Heritage Centre which was interesting. We then went to Creek Street and saw the salmon (so many salmon!) in the river waiting for their chance to battle upriver to their destination of choice. We stopped for a drink in the Totem Bar and had a chance to use the wifi there. Then, a little shopping in the town and back to the ship for dinner.

Our guide, Aretha, was a local and knew an incredible amount about history and culture. It doesn’t hurt my aunt lives here and had us over for fresh-caught, Alaskan shrimp!
