We did not do an excursion through the ship. We found a bus tour once we got off the ship. It's a bit cheaper and there are lots of offers. Once we finished the bus tour, we explored parts of the city we wanted to without the headache of being with a group. I recommend going to the totem pole museum which is not part of any tour. There is a totem pole park which is part of most tours but the museum was much more interesting.

We fell in love with Ketchikan! This town stole our hearts, we even discussed moving to here after spending time in port. During one of our excursions we learned from our driver that the junior high students are prepared for outdoor survival and even have to camp alone without supplies for a weekend before they can advance to the next grade. Very interesting little community and absolutely beautiful little town.

My favorite port. Ketchikan is so quaint and lovely to walk around in. We went on a boat ride / tour bus excursion and enjoyed an all-you-can-eat dungeness crabfest — delicious and truly all we could eat.
