Juneau was a very cool port (no pun intended). We chose our own excursion via JuneauTours.com to go whale watching and visit the Mendenhall Glacier. We chose this as the tour gave us more than enough time to explore the area around the glacier and time to walk down to Nugget Falls. They also put us on many whales. We also did the Mt. Roberts Tramway, which offered scenic views up on top of Mt. Roberts.

Yes, whale watching. We saw about 8-10 humpback whales and one actually breached the water while we were out on the water. Same day we saw about 30 Bald Eagles feasting on fish in the bay where we launched. Sea Lions and seal were out as well. Didn't use the ships Excursions. We used Juneau Tours and Whale Watching and Capt. Dirk, Jacob and Mark were GREAT! They also had an AMAZING BOAT and gave us the time of our life! Used the tram- loved the tram and, we visited Lady Baltimore at the top of Mt. Roberts and the Tram- Lady Baltimore which is a beautiful Bald Eagle!

booked gold panning and salmon bake with cheap cruise. tour guide looked and dressed the part of a gold miner even had a beard. showed us how to pan and talked about the hard times of the miners. We found some gold flecks in our pans. I gave tour guide a bag of Texas pasta which he liked. Then the next guide took us to the salmon bake. It was picturesque setting with pretty flowers and huge trees and the smell off the wood burning in the pit where the salmon was being cook. Made your mouth water just smelling it. The side dishes were OK but the salmon was to die for, flaky not dry. Did I mention the SALMON was delicious! It was worth waiting for....
