5th star because I got to visit the Capitol (10 to go!). Skip the tram. If you visit, the best view is right when you get on/off the gondola. All other views are obscured by trees or the tram platform.

Very interesting and so much to do. Needs more than one or two visits. We did the whale watching and sea kayaking.

The ship docked near the shops. Getting souvenirs should not pose as a problem. We had an excellent excursion to Mendenhall Glacier(Nugget Falls), whale watching with a salmon bake thereafter. In town, we had the excellent Alaskan King Crab at Tracy's King Crab shack.

This port was awesome. Tons of Bald Eagles. The tram to the top of Mount Roberts is a must. We went whale watching here and saw a lot of whales. We couldn't get very close so the camera shots weren't the best.

Whale watching with Harv and Marv’s and cannot recommend enough. Other boats had what looked like hundreds of passengers and we had 6! We saw orcas, humpbacks, seals, sea lions and bald eagles. Captain Brent was terrific and this was one of our favorite excursions. Try the crab legs at Tracy’s. You wont be disappointed.

The float plane flight to the Taku Lodge was well worth the cost! The flight was beautiful. Seeing the glaciers from the air lets you see how vast they are. And when we arrived at the remote, rustic lodge, we were greeted with the aroma of grilling salmon on an outside fire! Mouthwatering! It was a great way to enjoy some Alaskan history and really appreciate the early pioneers and how difficult it was to live in this harsh environment.

We did the Mendenhall Glacier Exploration and Mt Robert's Tram. Again, amazing vistas! Walking around town, hit up the Red Dog Saloon. Great ambiance! Great burger! Great Duck Fart! (don't ask, just go experience...) Only negative was that while waiting in line for the shuttle bus, there were 4 extremely rude and aggressive protesters telling us what horrible people we were and demanding we get off the cruise ship and bring the cruise industry to its knees. Tired of being the silent majority, my response to them was to respond in kind, asking them who paid for them to fly to Juneau to accost passengers who are bringing lots of tourist dollars into Alaska and contributing to the economy instead of sucking the life out of it like they were obviously doing. They did not want to talk about that... That was the antithesis of a peaceful protest, but none of them would even know what that meant, so it's wasted on them...

We went whale watching. I really enjoyed it but it is not action packed like an amusement park. Some people in my party were disappointed--silly. It is nature not some form of technology. The city was bigger as expected and I didn't get to see it. Hence, the three stars because I am not sure what is there.
