We participated in a whale watching & mendenhall glacier tour. Had the opportunity to see whales, sea lions, sea otter & eagles. At the glacier we saw salmon building their redds.

Very clean and organized. Did the 5 glacier seaplane tour. Had unlimited ceiling, so pilot did a circular tour of glaciers and ice fields instead of up and down a fjord. All in all very good, but flight time was a lot shorter than advertised.

Booked a whale watching trip on our own for the morning. Juneau Whale Watch is great! If you go to Red Dog Saloon, just drink. Food was meh. ☹️ Booked our own helicopter glacier tour. It was an hour for around $300 vs $500 for less time in ship's excursion. Did that in afternoon around 4:30. It stays light forever in summer and we were in port until 10pm.

Not much of a town. The chowder was the best I ever had. We were able to see bear fishing for salmon up close. Highlight of my trip.

Did a whale-watching tour here and we loved it! Actually saw a whale breach! The employees on the boat were so kind and went out of their way to make it special!

Save time for shopping, with a wonderful little place that's a co-op store of local artists (instead of tacky souvenirs made in China). Taku fish store has large selection of smoked salmon, quality, made by them. There is a tiny US Post Office right on the main street, mail home all your purchases in a flat rate box! Buy an Ulu chef's chopping knife and mail it home.

Our excursion was a helicopter tour over Mendenhall glacier to a camp on the glacier to ride dog sleds. I was initially worried that it would not be worth the cost. However it was absolutely amazing. The views were breathtaking. Meeting the dogs, being able to ride each spot on the sled, including the musher's - AWE INSPIRING! Several of the dogs and the crew participate in the Iditarod races. The funds raised in the summers help fund the training and racing in the winters. Worth every cent, I would do it again without hesitation!
