Was concerned with the amount of time in the port but when we saw the size of the city and what there was to do it was more that adequate and the city was absolutely lovely.

walk out into the woods, along the beach, and then in to town to get a real feel for what living on the passage is really like.

Icy Strait Birding Tour turned out to be SO interesting and fun because the tour guide's family is from Hoonan and Amy grow up in the town so we learned lots of history as well as bird, flower, bear and nature information. Try it!!

hoonah is small but fun walked around the village the grabbed a ride to town it was fun love the small town

Because Icy Strait Point only has one building with stores - local and company stores were mixed. Went on a bear search with "Bear1", local cultural leader for Tlinket Raven clan. Great stories of the area and we got great pictures of a momma bear and her two cubs.

You can purchase tickets on the dock everything is within walking distance from the ship. Not worth it to take the shuttle to the town, its a nice walk .

Actually the most authentic port - do walk to Hoonah, there is a great crab shack there :-)

Well designed resting area with small museum and shops. Nice trails. You get one hour free wifi here.
