This port basically exists to cater to cruise passengers but since proceeds benefit the Native American tribe that owns it I felt good spending time and money there. Actually saw a whale several times there in the harbor. Went on a whale watching excursion which was great - binoculars were provided (which was good because I had left mine on the ship). Saw a couple of groups of hump back whales - maybe 8 or 9 altogether.

This was a delightful stop. The shops at the Point we clean, spacious and filled with locally made items as well as touristy items. We hiked a nature trail, took a bus ride Hoonah, a nearby Tinglet village. There was an eagle's nest right in the center of town with two eagles in the tree nearby. There were many kayaks on the bay water.

Touted as an experience closer to true Alaska it's a nice break from the same tshirt and diamond stores found in many Alaskan ports. It is purposely built to accommodate one ship at a time and the local native village that manages the port is keeping the big chain shops out on purpose. We went whale watching and had an incredible time. Next time I'm going to do the zip line :)
