Some embarkation ports have severe traffic problems, some terminals don't have enough seats, some make you stand outside on long lines. Others are just uncomfortable - either too hot, too cold. Some need to be upgraded. Which embarkation port has the best terminal facilities for passengers?

Other than the winter fog and lack of itineraries, I like the Galveston port -- when the ship is delayed, you have quite a shopping/coffee shop/museum area to explore. Baytown (Houston) is no longer in business, but I liked the facilities there. Trouble is that there was nothing outside of the port for about 5 miles. Canaveral is about the same as Baytown. Seattle was difficult, but didn't spend any time inside other than the line for security and check-in.

I've only cruised from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale thus far. I like Miami better - it's larger, more modern and brighter. The waiting area in Ft. Lauderdale is tight and showing it's age.
My favorites are Long Beach and San Pedro CA because I can drive to them or take a limo. Both ports move you onto the ship quickly, Long Beach has covered pick up, drop off and parking that are nice if it is raining.

Didn't we have a couple of members of FV who were from New Orleans or that area?
Did you know that the chicory coffee they enjoy and the Cajun culture was thanks to Canadians?

The city is charming and the people are really nice. The only thing I liked about New Orleans is the French Quarters.

I drove by that Port a few months ago and got all excited because there were a lot of cruise ships in port that day.
You should try Charleston.

We've only cruised out of Miami and Long Beach and both were great. Check in was fast and smooth each time, and we were eating lunch by noon, with carry on bags already in our room. We will be leaving from Port Canaveral in March.

I have never sailed out of this port. Nice to read that you are so happy with the port. Embarkation can be so stressful.

Charleston!! You can spend an entire day at Patriot Point and it's 9 hours away. I hopped a shuttle from the hotel at 10:30 and I was on the Lido deck before 11:15 with my luggage in my cabin by 1:30 and this was before the FTTF program.
