What change would you like to see

Everyday I read about changes ships are making. What would you like to see ?

I was wondering how the headlines would read after the soon to follow incident where the great sportsman after having 6 or5 margatinis suddenly spots the biotch that cut in line at the pizza joint and gives her an extra dollop of salt.

Geeez Opus, between the people against guns, individuals whose PTSD would be "triggered" by the sound of gunshots, and the environmentalists who would be incensed that you're rock salt is increasing the salinity of the ocean, you're just opening youself up to all sorts of blowback here.

CHOGS now to the Nth degree......oh let me just save these 12 chairs, I'm an American,I pay my taxes, and I'm on vacation......SHUT UP ALREADY WITH THAT JUSTIFICATION ......5000 entitled people on one ship is not a vacation I want to be part of. Not to mention those same 5000 passengers getting off all at once on the "private island" fighting over 200 lounge chairs and 50 umbrellas.......I think I'll stay home and let the rest of New York go on vacation. Then I WILL have an island to myself.Big Smile"

Have you considered smaller ships with more "mature" demographics such as Holland? Still the occasional kiddos, but not nearly like on Carnival or any ship with water parks.

Although having the island of NY to oneself is appealing...

as far as the midnight / grand buffet, in the past I have suggested making it a paid event. you would have to register and pay pre cruise, maybe up to 2 days in, and if there is a sufficient amount of interest then that cruise would have a buffet. if not, all fees would be refunded. However, dont expect to see them ever again because as these ships get larger, the logistics of a grand buffet become nearly impossible. I remember the work that went into them on ships such as the Celebrity Century ,and the Norway. Don't expect room service to get any faster either, for similar reasons. Unless they start to offer some sort of call ahead / take out window type of service.

For anyone that hopes to get on a ship, and have the experience we had 20-30 years ago, forget it. I have yet to see any changes that have made my cruise vacation better. We always looked forward to our next cruise. our last cruise was last June (2022). I haven't even looked at another sailing brochure, or read an advertising e mail. If they offered one for free, I'd have to think about it ( unless it was on the GEM ). Too many kids, too many rude passengers, too many people. Stupid people who think its okay to bring an infant into a deck hot tub. Poaching your baby like an egg is just wrong. Once upon a time, Trap/skeet shooting was a thing rom the rear of a cruise ship...I unfortunately missed those days...

I would like to see it return...Rock salt has similar shot properties to most field shot, and the clays could be made from something more biodegradable....

Looking like Shrek, I hide behind the bushes

But remember, Lynn is photogenic (and irritating)

I agree about your increasing cost statement.

On a ship, Output is ALWAYS better than input. Too much input - she sinks. Wink

True. But the fares are beginning to increase across the board. I understand that everything costs more. Unfortunately, our input isn’t keeping up with the output.

Went back into the beginning of this thread..found AP's reply...couldn't agree more.. yes, then you really could compensate crew, (most of whom you never see) properly...and yes, you really could compare fares, apples to apples....but unfortunately you're treading on very swampy ground. The powers that be from line to line all seem to have different views as to how best to attract business...extracting more for spending less seems to be the rule...creating a "new" business model that instantly "raised fares" wouldn't be a popular move methinks...

This is the way it is in countries that don't have a tipping culture. Same cruise line, same cruise, but if you book it in, for example, Spain rather than the USA, the gratuities are included in the cruise fare. So it wouldn't be a big stretch to make it universal.
