Should cruise ships have rap music blasting on the lido deck or other common areas to get people on the cruise mood?

On my last Princess cruise, a string quartet, a steel drum and a few piano players seemed to be most of the entertainment. They kept advertising a DJ, but I never saw him.

Much better than the ear-bleeding volume levels on other ships.

On our last cruise there was a young singer/guitarist who was horrible. We really wondered how she ever got a job on a ship, but we did find out she was not having her first contract extended. The gal played at several different places throughout the ship including the Lido Pool area, and hardly anyone was there late in the afternoon. When she played in the lobby, it was empty. We just kept walking, but I did make a comment to the woman working the future cruise desk while we were booking our next cruise, because she was playing in the lounge area right next to it. That's how I found out she was not going to be around for long. Apparently a lot of passengers had complained, and management listened.

Loud music of any kind bothers me. I would steer clear of the Lido Deck if I had to listen to loud rap music. Complain to the front desk. You probably won't have to deal with this on HAL.

And cut off gloves for whatever reason.

Well, we all have to remember that just as one person doesn't like rap another doesn't like rock. What about the constant disco songs they play....some don't like disco music. The cruise lines that play rap also have to remember that more than likely that most of their customer base isn't into rap. Rap music isn't a party starter genre on a cruise. The ship is normally going to sail to some island, yes--why not some island type music. Rap has its place....when I go on a cruise--I'm not looking to feel like I'm a college student on spring break.

No Rap for me everAngry I like the Caribbean sound on a trip. Guess I dislike the DJ stuff. It's untalented and obnoxious. At least on the cruise before last they had some live music on the lido. Last year on Magic they had the Boom Boom. Angry Hopefully it will be better this summer.

I think Todd's into something here. Either that or he's just on something.....Wink

A little auto tune, a DJ mixer, a ball cap turned sideways and you are set!

Yo yo yo.. Boom boom, we ona Cruz.. Let's get down hard and drink some booze.

Yeah.... I take my laptop with and some small speakers and I'll play Bob Marley, some Beach Boys and a lot of Caribbean style music on embarkation day in my cabin.
