The weather nightmare

Can't image the horror show...folks getting off ships in ports with reasonable weather, but cant get a flight home..and worse, IMHO, cant get to the port to board. Planes have to come from somewhere..Some folks fly to the port the day of..or even the day b4 and stay over. Even driving can be a poor to impossible option. If ever there was an excuse for travel insurance...there it is. and you guys know Im not a fan...but wintertime??? sheesh...

Agreed...we have spoken to folks who flew in the day of, and of course were bragging about how the terminal was empty in the afternoon. Im sure it was, but its not worth the angst involved in getting there and cutting it that close..going home, theres beaucoup people trying to make flights within a few hours of disembarkation.

We always fly in a couple days before a cruise, because we live in the snow belt and weather is often an issue. Plus, it gives us a chance to relax and see the city. Flying in the day of the cruise does not make any sense, even if there are no issues along the way. You have to get up early to make the flight, so you start the cruise tired. We have had a situation where on of our connection flights was cancelled due to snow. By the time we got to the port city, we would have missed the sailing. We have also been sitting in Miami a day before the cruise watching the Weather Channel report one of the worst ever blizzards in our town.
