THE "SIMPLIFIED" MUSTER DRILL IS TOO MUCH EFFORT....SOOO

https://www.cruisehive.com/could-carnival-cruise-line-be-removing-the-virtual-muster-drill/68356

Interesting read...and I refuse to blame "spring breakers" either. In the old days, we've all seen so called adults slowly strolling to their outside muster station (usually with drink in hand) while everyone else was sweating in the sun. The "new" drill eliminates all that, but apparently thats too much effort too. Might have something to do with ships ability to deal with 6k passengers doing it.

Either way, scan down to some of the possible alternatives...interesting eh?

We have sailed 4 times since the restart , and have had good ones and then ones with the "entitled" that don't think they need to do it. Most have been smooth. We haven't been delayed departure on any of them.

maybe its the cruise line. i just went on royal and there didnt seem to be an issue with the muster drill getting done. the virtual seemed pretty smooth.

I agree that this is the most important change that could be made.

My thought regarding this matter would be to complete most of the muster protocols before you are even permitted to board. This could be either be completed through the use of the app or have a classroom setting in the port where passengers are checked off after the class completes. This would leave only physically visiting the muster station itself when you board. The app or class would tell you where and instruct you that is the first thing you should do when boarding.

When visiting the muster station you could either scan a QR code with the app or talk with a person. Either way you'd get immediate confirmation that you have completed all steps of the muster or be made aware if there is part of the process that might have been missed.

A key part of this process is your 'card' is not activated until you complete all steps of the muster. Meaning you can't use it to purchase items or enter your cabin.

On our week before christmas cruise on Symphony, we left port 5 hours late, due to extensive Covid Cleaning, and over 200 people did not report for Muster

We've had hundreds of posts over the years about the "dreaded muster drill"...but you nailed it...between "just do it"...and "I am happy to be able to cruise"....there's nothing more to say.

i was on ovation i like the simeple muster is great It was the first thing we did report to our station There were still people being called to check in I dont know why people cant just fo it after all it is for our safety enough of criping Happy i am happy to be able to cruise

Argh! Avast me hearties tis the right Idea!

Maybe we should just harken back to the days of Caribbean Pirates and Privateers:

If they dont complete it, Hang them from the YardArm!

Yargh!

Princess Cruises does it right. On Princess, you are required to check in at your Muster station then watch it on your room TV. All connected to the Medallion Class Cruises. Don't get any simpler.
