Table for 2?????? breakfast

My wife and I love a table for 2 only for our breakfast and all ships except Vista we did not have that problem. We get a table for 2 only on all Carnival ships except this one. We asked for a table for 2 on Vista. The waiter said no problem, he took us to a table that seats 4. We figured this aint right as on other ships there is a small table with 2 chairs and a small table. Shortly they seat another couple at our table. They said table for 2 couples..duh dont they understand english. We protested all to deaf ears. One wise donkey said what is the difference all you do is sit and look and wait for food, why not make new friends? We are married for 49 years and like to be alone with each other as we are in a service oriented job and we like to get away from people and just be with ourselves. He had a smart phone and I asked him what is the difference between us and the smartphone, he has his head in that when he isn't harassing us. ALSO the other cruise ships except VISTA gave us a table for 2 only at dinner also, again no more big ships for us. By the way we have been on 21 carnival cruises and the Vista is a bad apple for food service.

For what is a worth, I was able to get table for 2 on every Seaday Brunch on Vista. It might of helped that was solo, but there were many "2 tops" in the area which I was sat. For dinner I always insisted on a group table, though they always asked if I wanted my own table.

Yes, the night at the different MDR able was good service. Even the Sea Day Brunch had good service because we requested not to be with our assigned servers. We had dinner in the Steak House twice and the Crab Shack once just to get away from our MDR servers on that cruise.

Over all the Vista just did not do anything for me. It was more then just the MDR staff, the ship just had a kind of "Flat"feeling about it, You know something was off about it. I'd rather go on an Old Fantasy class ship or the Victory.

I totally agree on just wanting to have my own cruise peeps at my breakfast table. One wrong move towards my steak and eggs,,,well it might not be pretty. Really I just like to chill at break, but not in my room.

Did changing tables affect your dinner service? We found MDR service on the Conquest to be really poor compared to all of our other cruises. The wait staff seemed to be in training or extremely inexperienced, and others preferred to chat amongst themselves in an obscure corner near our table, instead of looking after the guests ' needs.

We ate breakfast on RCL at the MDR almost all 7 mornings and they always asked if we wanted a table with other couples. Sometimes we said no and sometimes we said yes. Either way was fun and it depended on what mood we were in that morning.

We have been on 2 NCL cruises before that. The first one we did the buffet every morning and the 2nd one we were with another couple almost every time we did the MDR for breakfast.

You may want to opt for Room Service if that happens again. I personally enjoy sitting with different people for breakfast and dinner. I feel like I am friends with most of the ship by the end of my cruises, but I do always see people eating at tables for 2 only. It's a shame they could not accommodate you and your wife.

Sorry you had this happen. While I don't even remember the service on the Vista, it was at the bottom of the list for Carnival ships (for us) on several other levels. We decided it was unlikely we would sail any other ships in this class. It had a few redeeming qualities and I won't rule it out entirely, but....

You may have a point that it is a drawback of the larger (newer) ships.

Im reading this experience with great interest. We eat at two tops all the time on NCL, up to including and especially breakfast. whether that's at a mdr, specialty, or osheehans. I aint a brilliant conversationalist over breakfast. ...later, fine. at the bars etc..as I mentioned, we have one scheduled "out there" on VISTA. We're going, no thought of cancelling. matter of fact we substituted that Carny cruise for one on NCL. Gotta be a way to game this to avoid these issues. Looking forward to the HAVANA suite experience.

Never had this experience but good to know should we ever decide to book a cruise on this class of ship.

I did not have the table issue since we were a party of 4. I will agree the MDR service was sub par for Carnival. We had our table changed the last night to see if we could get good service as out assigned table had bad service staff.
