Save some money on Excursions

You can save money on Excursions by purchasing at the embankment and most of the time there's No problem. But we were almost late back on the boat. Scary

It's important to know that if you didn't purchase on the ship and for some reason you are late. You have to find your own way home. Not good.

We will purchase on board they will wait for you.

Sometimes the extra cost of a ship sponsored tour is a cheap insurance. Glad the key word in your statement was "almost".Big Smile

Agree.

Make those reservations at home, after reading reviews from folks who actually took em. Making them on board can be chaotic, and time consuming. the brochures and price lists are not helpful. if you do it at home, you can "wander wisely" as the saying goes..you just have to pay for it then..and watching folks huff and puff their way down those Loooong piers when their cheepie day ran a bit long and they're tired, hauling kids, sunburnt or half in the bag is a spectator sport...

we always walk past the "excursion desk" to watch people ask each other questions when neither of em knows anything anyway...

On our cruise last year we took a guided taxi tour of St Thomas. People that got on the taxi did not have the cash to pay and needed to stop at an ATM and of course the ATM was broken.. So we were almost late for the ship. I will never book another excursion with someone outside of the cruise line. If I don't book with the cruise line, I will stay at the port.

Smart!!!..I know I know..all kinds of guarantees....yeh? all kinds of aggravation if you ask me as you watch your ship sail off without you...and yes, while its extremely rare, it DOES happen...so that "guarantee" from a non-blessed excursion co which is Raoul and Juan in their backyard does what exactly...a coupon for a plate of fajitas and beans? never mind...I stick with the ones approved by the cruise line on the rare times we feel the urge..(to take one that is) hehehehe

I would think that with all that is going on it is also the safer choice to book with the cruise line. I may cost a little more but do you really want to put a price on your safety! IJS

Yeah, agree with you.

We always try to avoid the cruise line Shore Excursions as they are normally expensive and overcrowded. Found this good article on how to save money on Shore Excursions. https://www.aboutluxurycruising.com/secret-ways-save-shore-excursions/

That link didn't tell most cruisers anything they didn't already know. But go ahead and save that buck three eighty. Miss the ship, or just "come close to missing it", and that'll cure you of the urge. This thread is short. Suggest reading it all b4 trying a non-blessed excursion.

That poster “found” an article they wrote themselves and had a referral link in it giving them credit with a company that is a sponsor of Cruiseline.com. Had to flag it.
