Sand

Does anyone else bring Items home from ports that you have found? Not bought in a souvenir shop but found.. If so, what do you do with it? Feel free to post a picture. My thing is sand, sea glass and little seashells. I gather up a little sand from each island we have been to and have been collecting it since 2008 on our first cruise. I knew I wanted to do something with it but I didn’t know what. Then I saw this on one of my cruise pages. It’s a shadow box with a photograph that I took at that port and sand, sea glass and tiny shells. I also Incorporated my love for messages in a bottle. There is a tiny glass bottle with a message in each one. One of them is a black sand beach. Never in my life did I think I would find myself on a black sand beach. It was Dominica.

Please, no lectures on the sand. Everything I had on me went through x-ray as it was supposed to. Pardon the glare.

X-ray as it was supposed to.

Thank you everybody. I appreciate your kind words. This is my next project. I also saw it in one of my cruise pages. Oh, and I have also started collecting authentic license plates from where ever we go. They get hung on the duct work in the rec room.

Assume you did that Omaha Beach thing on a tour? sort of interested...sort of...seems all the rage now to "go back"..since we're all getting long in the tooth....got some really weird mixed feelings about it...probably all changed...muddy trails turned into super hiways...mama san r n rs now piecework factories for wally world...and then I guess there are some places that I wish they would concrete over. or flatten...theres a few hills there I could've lived without..Nah...on third or fourth thought, not for me.I'd remember too much...like the way I looked then...and what I weighed...kids think I was NEVER 18..only thing that stayed was my bad attitude..faster than a speeding bullet eh?? hehehe leap tall well, never mind...I NEED THIS CRUISE!!!

What an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing. I brought sand home from Omaha beach in Normandy. My wife looks for sea glass wherever we go. She brought a lot home from Ireland. Need more frames? That’s a good sign.

You bet it counts!

Love it!!!....anybody that would concoct a lecture needs to get a life...I brought some mud home from NAM in a beer bottle of some kind of Japanese beer.(after I drank a bunch).. It looked ugly then and it still does 50 years later. does that count?? heheheh

Very cool idea. Thanks for sharing

Thank you very much. I even got the frames on sale. I will soon need more. LOL

Thank you. It sat around accumulating since 2008, our 1st cruise. Sadly there are many more that I did not get a chance to get. Hoping to get back to those some day.

That's a really cool idea! Better than any souvenir picture frame you could buy!

That's really a great idea. I've brought pebbles back from various places but thrown them in a drawer, then forgotten where they're from. You could do those for travelers.
