Progresso

After this year's cruise to the Southern Caribbean. I'll switch back to the Western Carribean again. I like Cozumel. I read that Progresso is terrible. I won't book if it stops there. Anyone here have a tips about that place?

We like cruising...love staying on the ship. Progresso is a dump..never get off ship for that port. Rather have an extra sea day.

We didn't particularly enjoy Progresso, but it was many years ago that we went and sometimes ports add more excursions. We wouldn't avoid booking a cruise that went there if the other ports were places we wanted to visit.

Clueless ToddRohl... Even if you don't get off the ship , the tractor trailers entering and exciting the concrete dust bowl will you drive you insane.. I am cool with the saying I go to Ports to enjoy all of the cultures that surrounds the people but that was a little much, You being a Balcony Cruiser as per your Reviews and postings I guarantee you won't be sitting out enjoying the view , Not a good investment for the cruising mind or pocket.

Thanks for the input. Place sounds like a ridiculous port to go to. Why on earth would a line go there?

Sounds like a day for waterslides! Grandma Jo!

Seriously, if you want to see anything beyond concrete and poverty, you need to take an excursion of some sort. Otherwise, it would be an awesome day to stay on the ship.

I Think you will be just fine , maybe they added a few palm trees here are there , But yes that's exactly what we did we disembarked onto Progresso Mexico soil , walked thru the Village "5 minutes Tops" jumped in a cab toured the concrete plants on the way out , cleared an armed guard ??? Pulled into town walk the "sea side village" 10 minutes tops, and actually beat the cab driver that took us to town back to port , we waved as he drove by with a fresh set of "sightseers" jumped back on the boat and that was that. $20 bucks for that wonderful Excursion. Lol have fun....

Uhoh, we are booked for Progresso in November, hopefully we will have a good time and can report back something good about the place. Alternatively, we might just not get an excursion, step off the ship, say, "Hey, Now we have been to Progresso" and get back on the ship and enjoy the day. We are taking 2 new cruisers to Progresso and Cozumel from NOLA on the Triumph the weekend after Thanksgiving!

Never been here. From what others here have written that is not a bad thing.
