Never had done an excursion. I'd like to try one but I don't want to pay the exurbanite prices to swim with the fishes or other high priced excursion. I hear they are fun but sometimes the bang is not worth the buck. Also people seemed so rushed to get off the ship, file in line, get there and pack up and get back.
You're missing a good part of the cruise experience. I look at the cost in terms of a nice dinner out or cocktails with friends - about same price and much more bang for the buck. As far as how people approach excursions in a rush is the same as how some board ... just people over excited lol.

It all depends on the level. I would not mind Zip Lining. Dog sled stuff--been there done that. White water rafting as well. Snorkeling and horseback riding--works best for me.
I would do about anything once, but being a 56 year old chunker, I know my limitations. Not to say I don't push the envelope once in a while. Cave tubing was fun, but ziplining in a foreign country with who knows what kind of cable could be disastrous
