Actually, we sort of looked at each other...idle conversation..."when dyou want to pack?"..came to the same conclusion..."we're driving to Galveston Fri, we can do it Thursday...we don't need anything..."...we've done it so often its almost routine...used to be, (back in the day) we'd start almost a week before..all kinds of stuff all over...it was a big deal...not anymore...

GETTING READY TO CRUISE...NO BIG DEAL

That WOULD be interesting...wonder what the reaction onboard would be if you wore a Renaissance costume for formal nite...hmmm...wait....is there a Renaissance cruise??? THAT could be epic!!!
There is a group that sails with the theme, but not the whole ship. We did wear our Noble clothing for a Halloween cruise a few years ago. We didn't win the costume contest, But we had a fantastic time.
We have a check list because forgetting something essential can be problem. We have 2 major check lists one for cruising and one for Renaissance Festivals. Believe me, you don’t want to get them mixed up.

Ya know, there was a time when a big gut on a man symbolized prosperity and success. Now anything short of six pack is considered a "load".
I didn't even play my other card about getting older and developing a slower metabolism.
Good news though. My prescient wife did not get rid of my "big boy" clothes from years back. She just pulled the bag out from the spare bedroom closet, so now I have shorts & shirts that'll fit, albeit out of style (not that I care about that). Plus I'm really happy that she saved me a trip to the mall.
Now tell me about how she's got your funeral arrangements preplanned...saw a tv show similar...some kind of murder mystery....merry widow living the high life in Rio....yukyuk......
Now THERE'S a well rehearsed excuse...(j/k)..you've recovered enough to cruise obviously, and as far as the weight goes, you'll get no sympathy from me. heheheheh

Sigh,
Yeah, I was just going to bring everything I had packed last March, for it was just the right amount of items and the ensemble worked well. Unfortunately something bad happened between then and now. I got it all out this weekend to make sure it was clean and ready, only to find that most everything that fit so well last year is now uncomfortably "snug". I was afraid of that. I had some health setbacks over the last six months that although not serious they had caused me to be more sedentary than normal, thus causing me to "swell".
Oh well, too late to do anything about it. Looks like I've got to go shopping this week.
Agree, Even as covid struck, we still have our cruise cases ready. My wife is going on an Alaska cruise at the end of May and already has her base bag packed. actually, never unpacked. We update from time to time just to make sure.
